Bend man's body found in Rogue River weeks after crash
A Bend man who has been missing since last month was found dead this week, Oregon State Police reported.
A Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputy found the body of 33-year-old Matthew Lang Tuesday in the Rogue River, “several hundred yards from the crash site,” according to an OSP news release. Medical examiners later confirmed it was Lang.
Jackson County Sheriff's Office spokesman Mike Moran said in an email that a search-and-rescue sheriff's deputy found Lang's body was in the Rogue River near where the river feeds into Lost Creek Lakeabove Payton Bridge. Search and rescuers had been searching for Lang since the evening of Oct. 27, when OSP responded to a report of a crashed SUV on Highway 62 near milepost 37, north of the lake near Prospect.
Lang’s 2004 Ford Explorer was badly damaged, but there was no one inside. Lang’s friends and family had not heard from him, prompting a search.
