18-year-old arrested for murder Sunday

Medford police arrested an 18-year-old man Sunday for allegedly killing a 28-year-old man with a baseball bat Sunday night, according to a press release and court documents.

Police responded to the Best Western Horizon Inn, 1154 E. Barnett Road, Medford, at 8:02 p.m. following an assault report, according to a police press release. When officers arrived, they found Jeffrey Blackwood, 28, dead in room 136 from injuries “consistent with an assault,” the release said.

Jackson Frischman, 18, was still on scene. He was arrested and later lodged at the Jackson County Jail for second-degree murder. He remained held Monday without bail, according to the jail website. A Jackson County Circuit Court document said the murder weapon was a baseball bat.

No information was available on what led up to the killing.

Frischman’s next court appearance is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 14, according to court documents.
