Man struck and killed by a vehicle in Grants Pass
A 20-year-old New York resident died after being struck by a vehicle in Grants Pass Tuesday night, according to the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety.
Just after 7 p.m. emergency dispatch began receiving “numerous” 911 calls for an incident involving a man being struck by a vehicle on the Williams Highway near New Hope Road, according to a news release.
Personnel from Grants Pass fire and police responded to the scene with Rural Metro Fire and American Medical Response and found the man in the highway’s “A” lane. First responders attempted lifesaving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not released the man’s name, pending next of kin notification. The driver, whose identity was not released, remained on scene and was cooperating with police.
“At this time it does not appear there was criminal conduct by the driver of the vehicle,” the news release said.
