Controlled pile burning continues Tuesday on Winburn Ridge

Forestry crews will continue controlled burns of debris piles along the U.S. Forest Service Road 2060-500 spur and Winburn Ridge area Tuesday, according to a news release.

The burning is part of an effort to mitigate fire danger in the Ashland Watershed by disposing of fuels that can help fire spread. Crews began the latest burn Monday. There will be no road or trail closures, but heavy smoke is expected along the 2060-500 road.

"The area is remote from popular trails, so we don't expect any recreation impacts," the release said.
