Man seriously injured after being hit by vehicle in southwest Medford
A man was seriously injured and transported to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning in southwest Medford, police confirmed.
Police and emergency workers responded to the crash at 6:42 a.m on Garfield Street near the Holly Street intersection, according to emergency dispatch logs.
The man was struck by a 2013 Kia sedan (corrected online: see below) as it traveled eastbound on Garfield Street, according to Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau. The victim was reportedly in the road and wearing dark clothing, and the driver did not see him until it was too late, Budreau said.
Police believe the vehicle was traveling at the speed limit. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police, Budreau said. The pedestrian was transported to Rogue Regional Medical Center.
