A Redmond man wanted on a warrant accusing him of sexually abusing a juvenile in Deschutes County is now in the Jackson County Jail after a multi-agency task force tracked him down at a White City home.

Jason Anthony Lopez, 33, was arrested Wednesday morning by the Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force, according to a post Friday on the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

A grand jury indicted Lopez on six felony counts of first-degree sexual abuse accusing him of subjecting a girl younger than 14 years old to sexual contact that allegedly occurred between March 2019 and February 2020, according to an indictment filed April 29 in Deschutes County Circuit Court.

The task force — which included personnel from the U.S. Marshals Service, the sheriff’s office and Central Point police — tracked a vehicle linked to Lopez down to a house in the 4000 block of Beagle Road in White City, according to the sheriff’s office.

Lopez was arrested without incident.

The multi-agency task force specializes in locating and arresting fugitives wanted for offenses that include murder, assault and sex crimes, according to the sheriff’s office and earlier Mail Tribune news reports.

Jackson County Jail records show that Lopez was booked in the jail at 12:37 p.m. Wednesday and was still an inmate held without bail as of Friday afternoon.

The sheriff’s office says that Lopez will be transported to the Deschutes County Jail at a later date.
