Tips sought in July 4 White City fires
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is asking for tips to find out who was behind five Sunday fires in White City that investigators say were intentionally set.
Each of the fires reported along Meadows Road Sunday were quickly extinguished, and none caused any significant damage to property, according to a post earlier this week on the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
At least two of the fires were confirmed to have been caused by fireworks “most likely thrown from a moving vehicle,” according to the sheriff’s office.
Sheriff’s deputies found one firework in the 16000 block of Meadows Road that "was lit, but did not completely burn,“ and investigators are checking it for fingerprints.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office tip line at 541-774-8333.
