Grand jury indicts 18-year-old for second-degree murder
A Jackson County grand jury has indicted 18-year-old Wiley Foxx, of Gold Hill, with second-degree murder in the shooting death of 24-year-old James Watters, also of Gold Hill.
The victim was James Watters, 24, also of Gold Hill.
Foxx's next court appearance will be Sept. 20 for an arraignment on the murder charge.
Foxx hasn’t entered a plea yet but is expected to do that next month, the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office reported Tuesday in a press release.
Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon dispatch received a report at 3:55 a.m. Aug. 19 of gunshots, screaming and subjects fleeing from a location in the 500 block of Gustaf Street in Gold Hill.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived to find Watters unconscious and not breathing with multiple gunshot wounds. Watters was pronounced dead at 4:20 a.m.
