Three hospitalized after Medford park shooting
A 19-year-old man is being treated at a Portland hospital after a Tuesday night shooting at a Medford park that left him and two others with gunshot injuries.
The man is in serious but stable condition after being shot in the head at Fichtner-Mainwaring Park, according to Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau.
Also shot were a 20-year-old man who was in serious but stable condition at a Medford hospital after being hit in the torso, and a 20-year-old man who was shot in the legs, but left the hospital against medical advice.
No names were released, but Budreau described the victims as local residents, and he said police believe the suspects likely are from the area as well.
How the victims and shooting suspects knew each other is “too early to tell,” Budreau said.
Police are asking for home security video from residents who live near the shooting site to aid in their investigation.
The shooting in the parking lot off Holmes Avenue at Fichtner-Mainwaring Park was reported at 8:28 p.m. Tuesday.
First responders and law enforcement arrived to find only the most seriously injured victim there. The two other shooting victims had been transported from the park to the hospital by private parties, according to police.
Budreau said the suspects might have left the scene by car or on foot.
“Pedestrian activity — especially individuals running — would be of interest,” he said.
Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call Medford police dispatch at 541-770-4783.
