Douglas County man arrested after guns stolen
A Douglas County man was arrested Saturday, and stolen firearms were recovered by deputies following a theft investigation.
Police determined the suspect to be Charles Elroy Brabender, 24, of Drain, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies began investigating after receiving a report of a stolen rental vehicle parked at a business in the 100 block of Chief Miwaleta Lane in Canyonville. The theft occurred around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, and the caller said two firearms and several thousand dollars’ worth of firearm accessories had been in the vehicle.
Deputies served a search warrant at a property associated with Brabender in the 600 block of Irving Drive in Myrtle Creek, where they found the stolen firearms and other case-related items.
Brabender, who was arrested earlier in the day on unrelated charges, received additional charges stemming from this investigation.
He was being held in the Douglas County Jail on three counts of first-degree theft and being a felon in possession of a firearm, as well as unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.
