Grants Pass woman accused of stealing more than $142,000
A Grants Pass woman was arrested Wednesday for allegedly stealing more than $142,000 from an elderly relative.
Crysta McNair, 42, of Grants Pass, faces two counts of aggravated theft, three counts of first-degree forgery, two counts of computer crimes and three counts of identity theft, according to a news release from Grants Pass police.
Police accused McNair of forging at least 110 checks and making fraudulent bank transfers from the victim over about a year.
Law enforcement found out about the situation from the victim, a 68-year-old relative of the suspect.
The victim received a notice that their home was under foreclosure because $18,000 in mortgage payments hadn’t been made. The suspect was supposed to have been sending out these mortgage payments, according to police.
McNair is being held in the Josephine County Jail on $50,000 bail.
Anyone with information related to the case was asked to call the Grants Pass Police at 541-450-6260 and refer to detective case 21-26659.
