Body found in Grants Pass river identified as that of wanted man
Police have identified the body of a man found floating in the Rogue River as that of a man with a warrant for his arrest who eluded Grants Pass police on foot in the first half of October.
The body of Ricky Allen McCord, 61, was found floating in the Rogue River Friday near the 5200 block of Leonard Road in Grants Pass, according to a release issued by the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office.
McCord last encountered law enforcement the evening of Oct. 10, when police were dispatched to a report of trespassing on private property in the 100 block of Gold River Lane in Grants Pass.
McCord — who had a felony warrant for his arrest — reportedly gave Grants Pass police a false name and fled on foot into the Rogue River.
How McCord died is under investigation, and the sheriff’s office has referred the investigation to the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office.
