Bodies of two Jackson County men found in Shasta County

Police are investigating the deaths as a homicide

The deaths of two men from Jackson County in Shasta County, California, this week are being investigated as a double-homicide, according to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office.

The bodies of Gunnar Eliot Yeager, 33, of Medford, and Meba Solomon Getachew, 33, of Ashland, were found Monday afternoon near two parked cars on a dirt road near Zig Zag Lane in Oak Run, a community located roughly 20 miles east of Redding in Shasta County.

Law enforcement officials there said the men both suffered gunshot wounds.

“At this time, there is no indication that the general public’s safety is at risk,” the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release about the killings.

Autopsies are planned for both men as part of the investigation, according to the coroner’s office.

“Further information as to motives or other investigative information will not be released at this time,” the sheriff’s department stated.

Shasta County investigators are asking the public for information to help them solve the case. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit can be reached at 530-245-6135 or email MCU@co.shasta.ca.us.
