Shady Cove man arrested after barricading himself inside home

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Shady Cove man Tuesday morning after a report of a domestic disturbance in which the suspect barricaded himself inside a residence in the 100 block of Birch Street after menacing the victim with a firearm.

A SWAT Team, K-9 units and the Crisis Negotiators Team arrived to find Bart Anthony Tardif, 62, alone in the dwelling.

The sheriff’s office described Tardif in a press release as “uncooperative, telling deputies he wouldn’t be taken alive, and refusing to exit the residence.”

The SWAT Team opted just before 11 a.m. to set off a flashbang device to stun the suspect, who then surrendered without incident.

Tardif was booked into the Jackson County Jail for being a felon in possession of a firearm, fourth-degree assault pertaining to domestic violence, menacing pertaining to domestic violence and harassment. His bail was set at $22,500.
