Ashland man indicted in sex abuse case
A Jackson County grand jury indicted a 64-year-old Ashland man Tuesday for first-degree sexual abuse, third-degree sexual abuse and felony delivery of marijuana to someone younger than age 21, and police are searching for more potential victims.
Frederick Mark Hutchinson, of the 200 block of Fifth Street, Ashland, was arrested Thursday and remained in the Jackson County Jail Tuesday on $150,000 bail.
“For months leading up to these crimes, Hutchinson actively ‘groomed’ his victim, a 14-year-old boy,” according to an Ashland police press release that was sent out Tuesday afternoon.
People with additional information were asked to call Ashland police Det. Dan Moulin at 541-552-2178.
Hutchinson’s mugshot was sent out with the announcement because police are trying to identify additional victims. The use of mugshots by law enforcement agencies in Oregon was sharply curtailed as of Jan. 1, but this purpose is allowed by House Bill 3273.
