Eagle Point woman charged with attempted murder
An Eagle Point woman faces an attempted murder charge after allegedly stabbing a man late Sunday in White City.
Samantha Kay Dietrich, 18, of Eagle Point, is being held in the Jackson County Jail for attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree assault. Dietrich’s bail is set at $100,000, according to Jackson County District Court documents.
Jackson County sheriff’s deputies responded to a fight between two men Sunday at 10:23 p.m. in the 7400 block of Gladstone Avenue.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies first saw the victim — covered in blood — about a block away on Avenue A. He had multiple lacerations on his abdomen, and police applied pressure to the wounds until Mercy Flights medics arrived.
A third person — Dietrich — is suspected to have intervened in the fight by stabbing the victim multiple times with a small pocket knife. The victim underwent surgery at a local hospital and is in stable condition, according to the sheriff’s office.
Dietrich was arrested Monday for second-degree assault and the other counts were added later. The case will be presented to a Jackson County grand jury Thursday.
