Grants Pass K-9 helps with drug busts

Grants Pass Police Department K-9 Match poses with his handler, Officer George Gasperson

Match, Grants Pass Police Department’s drug-sniffing K-9, helped detectives with the Rogue Area Drug Enforcement team, RADE, seize nearly 8 ounces of heroin in two separate investigations this past week, according to a press release.

The detectives were able to intercept two vehicles that contained the opiate. Both of the seizures tested positive for fentanyl, a highly powerful and dangerous synthetic opiate, according to police.

RADE has seen an increase in both fentanyl use and distribution. One of the traffic stops also resulted in the seizure of more than 8 ounces of methamphetamine.

Anyone with information or narcotics-related tips is encouraged to call 541-450-6373 or email RADE@grantspassoregon.gov.
