They arrived to find several bystanders tending to a stabbing victim, who told police he had no idea why the suspect had stabbed him. Witnesses said the male victim and female suspect had been fighting, according to a document filed in Jackson County Circuit Court.

The victim was treated at a local hospital for two stab wounds to the head, which were considered non-life threatening.

In the second incident, police were dispatched at 9:22 p.m. Sunday and found that two people had been stabbed near Bear Creek and the Ninth Street footbridge.Their injuries were described as non-life threatening. Both were treated and released at a local hospital.

The suspect, a 16-year-old girl, was apprehended near the intersection of 10th and Front streets. She was arrested for two counts of first-degree assault and taken to Jackson County Juvenile Detention.

Police said there was no known motive for the stabbings that happened Sunday.
