Two vegetation fires in Eagle Point over past two days

Two vegetation fires have broken out in Eagle Point in as many days, authorities said.

A vegetation fire that originated past the end of the Del Isle Way in Eagle Point burned almost 2 acres Thursday in a location that wasn’t easily accessible to firefighters, according to Jackson County Fire District No. 3.

The fire was reported just after 2:45 p.m. It started as an open burn but escaped into the area’s heavy vegetation and made its way uphill through thick brush.

The Del Isle fire required not only personnel but two water tenders to stop.

Another vegetation fire occurred Friday afternoon in the 100 block of Hammel Road in Eagle Point. It burned about one-eighth of an acre.

Personnel from Fire District 3, as well as Jackson County Fire District No. 4 and the Oregon Department of Forestry, worked together to extinguish both fires.
