Eagle Point taps Dole for school board
The Eagle Point School Board has appointed Ted Dole, of Eagle Point, to fill a board position recently vacated by Spencer Davenport.
Dole, owner of a business in White City and father of two Eagle Point pupils, was to be sworn in today.
Davenport, who was elected to Position 1 in May 2007, resigned in order to apply for a job in the school district of about 4,300 students.
Dole's appointed board term will expire on May 19, the date of Oregon's special district election, when he may seek election.
The Eagle Point district, officially known as Jackson County School District 9, encompasses the communities of Eagle Point, Shady Cove, White City, Trail, Lake Creek and portions of Sams Valley, making it the second largest geographical district in Oregon.
