SOU School of Business receives accreditation

Southern Oregon University's School of Business has received accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools & Programs for both its undergraduate and graduate programs.

According to a release from SOU, the council is a global organization that has accredited hundreds of colleges and universities around the world.

"This is a major milestone in our development," SOU School of Business Dean Raj Parikh said in the release. "It means we meet global standards of excellence for faculty, teaching, student achievement, learning outcomes and administrative processes."

Parikh said the recognition will help the School of Business attract more international students and will help SOU undergraduates in being admitted to competitive graduate programs.

It's the second major achievement for the School of Business in the past year. In July, the test scores of SOU students in the master of business administration program ranked in the top 10 percent on the MBA major field test administered at 130 universities in the United States.

The SOU School of Business offers one-year and two-year MBA programs and a master's in management degree.

At the undergraduate level, the school offers degrees with concentrations in management, marketing, hospitality and tourism management, and accounting.
