Medford School Board narrows list for new superintendent
After interviewing six candidates for the Medford superintendent position, the School Board has selected two favorites for a second interview and will announce the new superintendent next week.
"Everybody was good, but there were two that were a very clear choice for the board," said board Chairman Jeff Thomas.
Ray and Associates, an Iowa-based executive search firm, screened 49 applicants and presented a dozen to the board last week. Of those, the board chose six to interview.
Board members interviewed four of the candidates Tuesday and two Wednesday. Each interview lasted about two hours, Thomas said.
Following the interviews, the board met in executive session to score the candidates and chose two to return next Monday for a second, two-hour interview.
Thomas said board members did not discuss the candidates until after the interviews ended.
"We're hoping there will be a clear No. 1 for all seven of us, and then we'll announce the new superintendent," he said.
