Library receives grant
Jackson County Library Services has received a $33,855 state grant to help improve children's library services and early literacy programs.
The Ready to Read Grant, established by the Oregon Legislature in 1993, is awarded annually with state general fund dollars. Oregon libraries that receive funds can use them for the statewide summer reading program for children up to age 14, and for early literacy services for children up to age 6.
Jackson County branches already provide early literacy programming, such as Babies and Wobblers, Toddlerobics, early literacy training and Outreach to Childcare.
