Eagle Point High School principal resigns after being placed on administrative leave
Eagle Point High School Principal Tom McGuire resigned Tuesday after being placed on administrative leave.
Allen Barber, the district's human resources director, said he could not comment on why McGuire, who was hired at the beginning of August, was resigning because it was a "personnel issue."
However, Barber said, he received a "very nice" letter of resignation from McGuire Tuesday, the first day of school for Eagle Point high-schoolers.
“I do not know what his future plans are,” Barber said.
Jenn Whitehead, who has been principal of Hillside Elementary School for the last three years, was named interim principal of the high school.
During her years as an educator, Whitehead has turned around several low-performing schools, Barber noted.
“We knew that we needed to start the school year with a great leader,” he added.
Jodi Salinas, assistant principal of Table Rock Elementary, will fill in as interim principal of Hillside Elementary School, and the district will hire a new assistant principal for Table Rock Elementary.
