AHS to hold homecoming food drive

Ashland High School will collect non-perishable items before its homecoming football game from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at Walter A. Phillips Field. The items collected will be given to the local emergency food bank.

Those who donate will be given one ticket for every two items they bring. The tickets can be placed in any prize jar. Prizes include gift cards to grocery stores and restaurants. Ashland High will also accept cash donations which are also worth tickets — $1 for two tickets and $5 for 15 tickets. Half of all cash donations will go to the food bank and half will go to the local softball team rumble.

Winners will be announced at halftime. Donation suggestions include peanut butter, cereal, oatmeal, cooking oils, beans, rice and canned food.

The annual Homecoming Parade is set for 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, down Siskiyou Boulevard.
