CASA collecting school supplies

The local nonprofit organization Court Appointed Special Advocates is collecting school supplies for the children it serves.

CASA volunteers look after Jackson County children who are in the care of the Department of Human Services as they navigate the court systems. The volunteers get to know the children and speak on behalf of the children and their best interests in court.

They also help improve the children’s lives by supporting them throughout the year in ways such as giving them Christmas and birthday presents and helping them pay for school activities.

According to a press release, CASA has a fund dedicated to special requests such as specialty school supplies, swim lessons, camp fees, school activity memberships, trips and disability equipment.

All donations are tax-deductible, and a receipt is available upon request.

CASA is seeking donations of backpacks, wide-ruled notebooks and paper, colored pencils, large glue sticks, washable markers, calculators, pencils, glue, erasers, scissors and crayons.

For more information, contact Erin Carpenter at ecarpenter@jacksoncountycasa.org or 541-734-2272. CASA is located at 405 N. Front St., Medford.
