Time to register kindergartners, new students
The Ashland School District is asking parents of next school year’s kindergartners and new students to register online as soon as possible to help the district prepare for whatever’s next.
The district is particularly eager to pin down kindergarten class sizes throughout Ashland, according to ASD Director of Human Resources and Communications Laurie Rooper.
“Knowing the size of our kindergarten classes and where those kindergartners are going to be — which neighborhoods they’re in — is going to help us with planning for next year,” Rooper said. “And as we get more information from the state about what school is going to look like in the fall ... we kind of want to have all our ducks in a row. Then when we get that information we can start planning right away.”
ASD uses PowerSchool’s online registration system, InfoSnap, for student registration. There, parents can enter registration system. Visit Ashland.k12.or.us and click on the “Enrollment, Registration & Transfers” box to get started. The online process, which also allows parents or guardians to upload required documents and electronically sign annual permission forms, replaces the hard copy process of previous years.
Those interested in sending their children to John Muir School or Willow Wind Community Learning Center must first register at their neighborhood school. Links to John Muir and Willow Wind CLC registration is also available on the district website.
Parents who lack a reliable computer or internet connection can sign up at their child’s school by using the school’s computers or filling out the paper forms.
