Maryrose DeCoste named Rotary student of the month
The Rotary Club of Ashland named Maryrose DeCoste, a senior at Ashland High School, the club’s student of the month for January.
DeCoste was honored at the Zoom Rotary meeting Jan. 28.
DeCoste was introduced by Ashland High School Principal Benjamin Bell, who shared that DeCoste was chosen because she embodies the values of Rotary’s Four Way Test, which urges Rotarians to search for the truth, to be fair, to build goodwill and friendship, and to strive to ensure that their actions are beneficial to all concerned.
Bell noted that DeCoste is committed to community and service, including participating in the fire relief effort. He shared faculty comments that DeCoste is always positive, dedicated, and a friend to everybody. Karl Kemper, director of athletics and activities for Ashland School District, described DeCoste’s determination to form a weightlifting club and help fellow students learn new skills.
