SOU hosts Creativity Conference
The third annual Creativity Conference at Southern Oregon University began its four-day run Thursday as 170 presenters, including 46 from outside the United States, descended upon Ashland for an event that’s expected to include about 250 presenters and participants.
This year’s conference, which draws some of the world’s top scholars, researchers and practitioners in the field of creativity, will be entirely digital and online following the cancellation of the 2020 event.
This year’s keynote speakers include Ron Beghetto, a professor and director of the University of Connecticut’s Innovation House; and Ruth Richards, a professor at Saybrook University, a private school in Pasadena, California. For the full list of speakers, visit soucreativityconference.com.
Beghetto is an expert on creative thought and action in educational settings and the editor of the Journal of Creative Behavior. He has served as a creativity adviser for organizations such as the LEGO Foundation and the Cartoon Network.
Richards works in the areas of consciousness, spirituality, integrative health and creative studies. Her Creativity Conference keynote address will be at 9 a.m. Saturday.
The event offers about 150 talks, panels and 15-minute “boom talks,” typically about the current outcomes of active research.
Access to the full conference, including applied workshops, costs $495 for the general public and $325 for SOU students, faculty and staff. One-day access costs $140, and $125 for SOU students, faculty and staff. All registrations include access to archived digital content.
