VETERANS DAY EVENTS

PANCAKE BREAKFAST: American Legion Post 14 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 353 will offer a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon Thursday, Nov. 11, at Pioneer Hall, 73 Winburn Way, Ashland. There will be ham, eggs, beverages and all the pancakes you can eat. The cost is $5, $3 for children ages 12 and younger. Call 541-482-9441.

FALLEN WAR HEROS MEMORIAL: A Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at the Oregon Fallen War Heroes Memorial in Don Jones Park, Hamrick Road, Central Point. There will be patriotic music by Central Point School District's music directors, a flag-raising ceremony by the Boy Scouts of America Troop 109 and speeches by Congressman Greg Walden and Vietnam veteran Ernie Gibson. CELEBRATION: Veterans Day will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at the Veterans Affairs Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics, 8495 Crater Lake Highway, White City. Vietnam veteran Jim Klug, commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Rogue Valley Chapter No. 147, will speak. Other highlights include a memorial tribute to fallen Oregonian Operations Enduring Freedom/Iraqi Freedom heroes, a patriotic performance by the Rogue Valley Symphonic Band, posting/retiring the colors and a taps rendition by the 186th Army Infantry Honor Guard. PARADE IN MEDFORD: The Veterans Day parade will begin at 11 a.m. at Hawthorne Park and follow Main Street to Oakdale Avenue. Medford Police Honor Guard will present the official colors. DEDICATION IN EAGLE POINT: A plaque will be dedicated to veterans of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at the Veterans Park, Royal Avenue and Main Street, Eagle Point. Police Chief Vern Thompson will speak, and the Eagle Point High School Band will perform. There also will be an honor guard of local Naval Sea Cadets. Breakfast will be offered from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at the Eagle Point Senior Center, 121 Loto St. Pancakes, sausage, ham, scrambled eggs, juice, coffee and milk will be available. VETERANS CEREMONY: The Rogue Valley Chapter of the Non- Commissioned Officers Association will host a ceremony at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at Veterans Memorial Park, corner of the South Pacific Highway and Stewart Avenue. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Mark Boone and 1st Lt. David Gauthier will speak. Call 541-535-1899.
