Haunted houses, spooky tales, costume and dance parties find your favorite seasonal fun with Tempo’s guide to October events.
Pheasant Fields Farm: Harvest Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through October at the 20-acre farm, 1865 Camp Baker Road, Phoenix. Activities include a corn maze, hay rides, face painting, pumpkin carving, animal exhibits, 10-passenger cow train and country store with local organic produce, handcrafted items, bread, caramel apples, espresso drinks and meal choices. Activity tickets are $1.25. Flashlight nights in the corn maze are offered from 7 to 10 p.m. on select evenings in October. Admission for the flashlight night is $6, $4 for kids 6 and younger. Just Scream Haunted House: Just Scream Halloween presents a haunted house from 7 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, Oct. 19-20, and 26-27, at 604 W. Main St., Medford. The frightful haunted house features a dark world of zombies, ghouls and goblins. Children younger than 7 will not be admitted. Kids 7 to 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Child care is available. Admission is $6. Proceeds benefit animals at Southern Oregon Humane Society. See sohumane.org.
Gold Hill Halloween Haunted House & Graveyard: A two-story, family-friendly haunted house more than 100 years old is the setting for ghoulish good fun and treats for all ages from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 19-20 and Oct. 26-27, and Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 504 First Ave., Gold Hill. Also look for a bake sale for goodies and spooky treats. Tickets are $5 for ages 13 and older, $3 for ages 6 to 12, $1 for ages 3 to 5 and free for ages 2 and younger. Dead and Breakfast Haunted House: One Eleven Theatre Company in Grants Pass will host “Dead and Breakfast” Haunted House. Ghost guides Helga and Maximus invite you to spend the evening walking through their halfway house for lost souls. The “hotel” is open from 6 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays Oct. 19-27, and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, and Tuesday Oct. 30, and from 6 p.m. to midnight Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 937 NE D St., Suite C, Grants Pass, in the shopping center next to GNC. Monster Ball Pasta Party: Non-runners and runners participating in Saturday’s Monster Dash are invited to a pasta party to benefit Ashland public schools from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at the Historic Ashland Armory, 208 Oak St. Events include a pasta dinner, silent auction, DJ music, kids’ activities and costume contest. Monster Dash: The 10th annual Monster Dash Run for Education begins in Lithia Park in Ashland Saturday, Oct. 27. A one-mile fun run/walk starts at 10 a.m., and 5K and 10K runs begin at 10:45. Top male and female finishers receive cash prizes. Age group winners will also receive prizes, and all youth finishers will receive a medal. Proceeds benefit Ashland public schools. Puss ‘n Boots Ball: The 27th annual Puss ‘n Boots Costume Ball and Auction will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at ScienceWorks Hands-on Museum, 1500 E. Main St., Ashland. Tickets are $50 and include dinner, dessert and dancing to live music by The Rogue Suspects. Additional activities include Halloween costume contests, silent auctions and several opportunities to make donations. The event benefits Friends of the Animal Shelter efforts to increase pet adoption, foster pets and promote spay and neuter programs. Purchase tickets in advance at Paddington Station, 125 E. Spookadelic Halloween Funktacular: This dance party will feature soul band Monophonics, soul singer Tiffany Wilson, and DJ Frankenstein Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Historic Ashland Armory, 208 Oak St. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at Music Coop, 268 E.
