Circle of Teran hearing continues
Contentious issues surrounding the placement of a church on property near Ashland return to the county's Board of Commissioners today.
The continuation of last week's public hearing is at 1:30 p.m. at the county courthouse auditorium, 10 S. Oakdale Ave., Medford.
Scott and Sulara Young want to turn their Butler Creek Road home into a spiritual center, a move that would require a zoning exception to allow a church to be built within three miles of an urban growth boundary and to change zoning from exclusive farm use to limited use.
The Youngs have said "divine providence" led them to build the home where it is and that land-use laws are unconstitutional because they are preventing the operation of the church, known as the Circle of Teran.
Others have argued against the county granting the exceptions for the Youngs.
