Seattle educational music duo The Sababas will perform a children's Hanukkah show at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Ashland Branch Library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd. The free, interactive show combines music, puppetry, storytelling and audience participation.

The event is part of a new program called PJ Library, which is sponsored by Havurah Shir Hadash and Temple Emek Shalom. Families who sign up for PJ Library receive a free Jewish book each month for each child between the ages of 6 months and 8 years. Ashland First Presbyterian Church will begin its Sunday service activities with Christian education for children and adults at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at the church, on the corner of Siskiyou Boulevard and Walker Avenue. Coffee and fellowship will follow in the Narthex at 10 a.m., and the all-church worship and children's pageant will happen in the sanctuary at 10:30 a.m. For more information, call 541-482-3536.

The Center For Spiritual Living will feature the Rev. Ruth Kirby as guest speaker at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at 1119 Ellen St., Medford. Music will be presented by singer/songwriter Bridget Wolf, who incorporates the American Indian drum in her program, and asks those who have drums to bring them and participate. A sacred drum circle will be held following the service.

The Earth Team will hold a meeting in the Social Hall following the service.

Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will focus on "Concepts of God" at its service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at the fellowship, 87 Fourth St., Ashland. There will be an introduction to Las Posadas and the Mexican celebrations of the holiday starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 44 N. Second St., Ashland. The event begins with a presentation in the Parish Hall with typical Mexican cookies and warm drinks. Following the presentation, participants will walk the garden labyrinth in the spirit of finding shelter with Mary and Joseph while more than 100 glowing luminarias guide attendees through. Ashland Bible Church's Christmas Dessert Concert will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at the church, 400 Dead Indian Memorial Road, Ashland. The theme for this year's concert will be "Gloria in Excelsis Deo," or "Glory to God in the Highest." Music and visual media will take the audience to the evening when the angels visited the shepherds with news that a savior had been born.

Guests are treated to dessert and holiday beverages before the concert. The concert will feature music by the adult choir, various instrumentalists and minister of music Brent Olstad. Pastor Nate Shinn will give a devotional, and the congregation will join in the singing of Christmas carols.

Five churches from Jacksonville and Ruch, and Bigham Knoll will team together to present six live nativity scenes depicting the events before and after the manger scene from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 16-17, and 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at the east end of E Street in Jacksonville. The event will be a guided walking tour with narration, and will include free refreshments following the service, live Christmas music from Christina Duane and her band, and a gift shop featuring work from local artisans and crafters.

The five churches involved are Calvary Church, First Presbyterian Church, Lumen Dei Church, St. Andrews Anglican Church and Ruch Community Bible Church. For more information, contact Bigham Knoll at 541-899-9665.
