Wild coho salmon the feature of Rogue Flyfishers Association meeting
Wild coho salmon populations in the Rogue River basin will be the featured highlight at the Rogue Flyfishers Association meeting March 21 in Medford.
NOAA-Fisheries' Ken Phippen is scheduled to make a presentation on coho's historical abundance here and potential habitat. The presentation comes as NOAA-Fisheries is in the early stages of putting together a recovery plan for wild coho, which are listed as a threatened species in Southern Oregon and Northern California streams, including the Rogue Basin.
The meeting begins with a 6 p.m. Wet Fly hour, followed by a 7 p.m. dinner, regular club business and the presentation.
Non-members are welcomed.
The meeting is at the Red Lion Hotel, 200 N. Riverside Ave., Medford.
