Clinton visit to change venues

The need for a larger venue has prompted former President Bill Clinton to move his campaign stop today to North Medford High School's gym, officials said.

Clinton was originally set to appear at Hedrick Middle School, but that school's gym proved insufficient to meet space demands, said Isaac Baker, a spokesman for the Sen. Hillary Clinton campaign.

"We wanted to make sure thousands of people were not turned away," Baker said. "The move will accommodate many more people."

You might want to show up early as space is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

"The doors open at 4:30 p.m.," said Milt Goldman, who is leading Hillary Clinton's campaign in Jackson County.

The former president is in town to rally support for his wife's run for the White House.

The event is scheduled from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the school's gym at 1900 North Keene Way Drive in Medford. Clinton campaign officials say the appearance is free and open to the public, but they recommend registering at www.hillaryclinton.com/medford.

Bill Clinton will also visit Portland, Bend and Salem Sunday and Monday as a prelude to an Oregon appearance by the presidential candidate.

Campaign spokesman Isaac Baker said Hillary Clinton "will be campaigning aggressively all over Oregon, including campaigning aggressively in Southern Oregon." No dates have been announced.
