Commission candidates set broadcast debates
Candidates for the Jackson County Board of Commissioners will participate in two broadcast debates over the next two weeks.
The Jackson County Local Action Coalition will hold a commissioner candidates forum from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, at Central Medford High School, 815 S. Oakdale Ave., Medford.
Candidates for the two commissioners' races in the Nov. 2 election are Democrats Jeff Golden and Mark Wisnovsky and Republicans John Rachor and Don Skundrick.
The event is open to the public and doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The event will be broadcast live on KMED AM-1440 and moderated by KMED radio commentator Bill Meyer.
Questions for the candidates may be submitted by Sunday, Oct. 3 to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line "forum." Questions also will be chosen from those submitted by the audience at the event.
On Thursday, Oct. 14, the same four candidates will participate in a taped television forum that will first air the same evening.
The Southern Oregon Town Hall will be aired on Southern Oregon Public Television at 9 p.m. Oct. 14 on the station's new SOPTV-World channel. It will be rebroadcast at 10 p.m. the same day on the main SOPTV channel and will also be broadcast several times in the following two weeks.
The town hall will be moderated by Julie Akins, news director at KOBI-TV, with panelists Bob Hunter, editor of the Mail Tribune, and KMED's Bill Meyer.
