Videos of local candidate forums airing now on TV

Ashland voters will be able to hear from their candidates in state, country and local races weigh in on the local economy with televised forums now through election day on Nov. 4.

The forums, hosted by the Ashland Chamber of Commerce and broadcast through Rogue Valley Community Television, feature candidates answering questions about the local business community and the state of the Ashland economy.

The five forums feature the state senate district 3 race between Alan Bates and Dave Dotterrer, State Representative for district 5 featuring incumbent Peter Buckley and challenger Nick Card, Biome Michael Erickson and Stefani Seffinger in the race for City Council position 4, Pam Marsh defending her seat in City Council position 6 against Theo White, and the race for Jackson County Sheriff with challenger Cory Falls alone (Sheriff Mike Winters didn't show for the debate).

Chamber Vice President Alex Amarotico hosts each episode while Chamber President Cindy Bernard and Secretary/Treasurer Mary Gardiner moderate.

The Ashland Chamber of Commerce does not have a political action committee and has instead chosen to educate Ashland voters through these guided discussions with the candidates.

The forums can be viewed on RVTV Prime (Ashland TV channel 9, Charter channel 180), RVTV Civic (Ashland TV channel 14, Charter channel 181), RVTV Voices (Ashland TV channel 15, Charter channel 182) and Ashland TV channel 20. The forums are set to run at least twice per week and programming schedules are available on rvtv.sou.edu.

Roku users can view the forums on-demand on the RVTV channel through PEG.tv. The forums also are available online at RVTV's website, and www.ashlandchamber.com.

Ballots for the Nov. 4 elections will be mailed out Friday, Oct. 17. Ashland's ballot drop site is located in the alley behind the library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd., and is open from the day that ballots are mailed out until 8 p.m. on election day.
