Jville Council Q&A: Jim Lewis
What is your top priority if elected?
Keeping the momentum going on our historic preservation and restoration. History is what makes this town unique, and we need to do everything we can to enhance that. We recently received back a number of buildings from the county … so we have to be diligent in planning for preservation and maintenance.
How would you fund notching of the reservoir dam?
I would aggressively pursue grant funding from various regulatory agencies, both state and federal. We have carried over funds for an emergency but that would be a last resort.
If costs go higher than anticipated to update the city-owned courthouse for city offices, what would you propose?
I would not be interested in selling it. It’s in the heart of the city in terms of locale and prominence. I would look potentially at having tenants to offset costs. There are historical preservation groups that might be potential lenders or grantees.
