AIFF alum returns for screening of 'Seed'
The Ashland Independent Film Festival and Coming Attractions Theatres co-host an AIFF benefit screening of the documentary "SEED: The Untold Story" at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Varsity Theatre in downtown Ashland.
"SEED" features Vandana Shiva, Dr. Jane Goodall, Andrew Kimbrell, Winona LaDuke and Raj Patel.
The 6:30 p.m. screening will be followed by a question-and-answer session with "Seed" director and AIFF alum Taggart Siegel and Ashland Food Co-op’s Outreach and Owner Services Manager Annie Hoy. Siegel will be presenting outtake footage shot in Josephine County.
Past AIFF attendees may remember Siegel’s documentary "The Real Dirt on Farmer John." When it premiered at AIFF in 2006, it packed houses — “enough so that we were fortunate to be able to bring it back for a return engagement to more packed houses just two weeks after the festival,” recounts Wendy Conner, AIFF’s director of operations.
The film will open at the Varsity Theatre on Friday, Nov. 4, followed by a weeklong run.
