Help seniors, disabled with holiday shoebox gifts
The annual ACCESS Senior Shoebox Project seeks wrapped gift boxes filled with fun and usable items until Dec. 9 to help bring some cheer and care to seniors, people with disabilities and shut-ins throughout Jackson County during the holiday season.
Suggested items for the shoeboxes include a pocket calendar, address book, post-it notes, flashlight, sewing kit, jar grabber, alarm clock, small stuffed animal, card games, crossword puzzles, toiletries and other inexpensive gifts.
ACCESS asks that the box lids and bottoms be wrapped separately, so the organization may add a holiday greeting from ACCESS.
A shoebox filling party is planned from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 3, at 3630 Aviation Way, Medford. Volunteers can fill shoeboxes, bring in empty wrapped boxes, purchase items like those listed above for the boxes or make a donation to help support the program before Dec. 9. Volunteers are needed to help deliver shoeboxes Dec. 19-23.
