Bad Film Society goes Technicolor
The public is invited to the Bad Film Society for a night of Technicolor at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, in the "dungeon" at the Ashland Elks Lodge, 255 E. Main St., Ashland.
Maria Montez, known as “the Queen of Technicolor,” is featured in "Cobra Woman." She stars as the queen of a mythical kingdom and as her evil sister who has taken over the throne.
"If the term 'camp' had never been created, then we'd have to come up with it to describe this deliriously awful, delightfully irresistible trash-masterpiece from the 1940s," Ed Polish of the Bad Film Society says in a press release. Lon Chaney Jr. stars as a mute thug.
The society will also show a rare 1934 Technicolor comedy short called "Good Morning, Eve!" that takes place in the Garden of Eden, Nero’s Rome and King Arthur’s Court, as well as colorful shorts, trailers and cartoons. Those who attend are welcome to bring any bad DVDs, tapes or books they want to give away. Members should bring a Thanksgiving-style dish for the potluck dinner starting at 6 p.m.
A $4 donation is requested to support the Elks.
