AllCare opens new facility in Grants Pass

AllCare Health opened a new office building Thursday, giving the north end of Grants Pass a boost that civic leaders hope may spur redevelopment efforts.

AllCare's new 45,000-square-foot facility, designed and built by Ausland Group at Northeast Seventh Street and Hillcrest Drive, is expected to help hundreds of medical providers care for 50,000 patients in Josephine, Jackson and Curry counties. Civic leaders hope the new facility will spark a revitalization on the north end of town and act as a community hub.

"I'm really excited about the quality of this building and how it views from Seventh Street going north," said Grants Pass City Council President Dan DeYoung, who was recently elected to the Josephine County Board of Commissioners. "AllCare really made an impact and showed that we're willing to grow. It really shows their commitment to our community."

"To see how the north end got run down is not representative of the pride I have in this town," said fellow Commissioner-elect Lily Morgan. "To have a flagship building like AllCare is just incredible. I am very proud to have AllCare as part of this community."

Although the new building is open for business, parts of the site remain under construction, which will continue through most of 2017.

The building has space for more than 150 employees, ranging from accounting to claims to administration to provider services. A demonstration kitchen for cooking classes is located on the first floor, alongside one of several new community meeting rooms.

"If someone wants to host a meeting, they can use this facility," said Josh Balloch, vice president of government affairs and health policy at AllCare. "We specifically designed this room so that people could have access to it after hours without having access to the rest of the building."

Efforts were made to make the building eco-friendly, as well.

Among the features, the main staircase and front desk are made from reclaimed wood.

AllCare got started 22 years ago as the Mid-Rogue Independent Physician Association. It has since evolved into a multifaceted company providing a wide range of services to health care providers and patients alike.
