More mountain snow forecast
Another round of snow is forecast to drop in the hills surrounding the Rogue Valley, with up to 8 inches possible by Friday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
A winter weather advisory will be in effect from 11 tonight until about 2 p.m. Friday, according to a bulletin listed on the agency's website. Snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches are possible for the Siskiyou Mountains and Southern Oregon Cascades, generally at elevations above 5,000 feet. That includes the Mount Ashland Ski Road and areas of the Cascades north of Lake of the Woods, the advisory says.
Snowfall is expected to start at about 5 p.m. this evening, with the heaviest accumulations between 11 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. Friday.
The heavy, wet snow is expected to impact travel, with snow-covered roads possible. Traveling motorists should carry tire chains, a flashlight and spare batteries, blankets, food, water, medications and a fully charged cellphone.
