Body found along South Umpqua River was man
The Douglas County Medical Examiner's Office has tentatively identified human remains found Monday along the South Umpqua River, near Interstate 5 milepost 108 in Myrtle Creek, according to a press release from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
A person walking in the area found the remains and notified police.
The Medical Examiner's Office said the body was an adult male who had been dead for less than six months.
The identity has not been released pending next-of-kin notification, police said.
The Douglas County Major Crimes Team has been activated and assumed the investigation.
