La Clinica programs expand to Hanby, Kids Unlimited

La Clinica will bring its dental education, prevention and screening program to eight more Medford schools this school year.

The Medford-based nonprofit also will open a school-based health center, providing nursing care and mental health services, at Hanby Middle School in Gold Hill this month to serve both Hanby and Patrick Elementary School students. Another school-based center is due to open at Kids Unlimited Academy in Medford later in the school year.

The eight schools receiving dental services are Abraham Lincoln Elementary, Griffin Creek Elementary, Hedrick Middle, Hoover Elementary, Jacksonville Elementary, Lone Pine Elementary, McLoughlin Middle and Ruch Elementary.

La Clinica's in-school dental program will be in 26 area schools with the additions. Its school-based health centers will operate in 11 locations in the Central Point, Medford, and Phoenix-Talent school districts. La Clinica also runs six community health centers and a mobile health center in Jackson County.

La Clinica served about 10,500 children through the programs during the last school year and projects the additions will allow about 1,200 more to be seen annually.
