Annual Greystone Court holiday display collects funds, food

The annual holiday light display at Greystone Court begins Thursday, Dec. 21, and continues through Christmas Eve. The event runs each night from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The residents of Greystone Court will be there accepting donations of nonperishable food items and cash donations for ACCESS to help feed hungry people in Jackson County. ACCESS also accepts secure donations online at www.accesshelps.org. Greystone Court is off North Phoenix Road in east Medford.

During these four nights, Asante will match up to $5,000 of donations collected from the community at Greystone Court.

Santa will be there each night to greet the children and hand out candy canes. Human Bean will hand out free sample cups of hot chocolate on Dec. 21.

This is the 17th year for the event. More than 4,000 cars are expected to drive through the cul-de-sac in four days. The first donation was made on Dec. 22, 2001. So far, community members have contributed thousands of pounds of food and more than $300,000.

Foods rich in protein are especially needed, including peanut butter, canned tuna, canned meat and beans. However, donations of any nonperishable food items such as rice, pasta and cold and hot cereals are appreciated.
