LWV hosts 'Yes on Measure 101' event
The League of Women Voters of Rogue Valley will present an advocacy program, "YES on Measure 101,” from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at the Medford library, 205 S. Central Ave.
Former state Rep. Peter Buckley will provide a history of the legislative funding package passed in the 2017 session. David Gilmour, M.D., will address impacts on patients and providers if the measure passes or fails. Lisa Callahan, Grants Pass pediatrics nurse practitioner, will explain how children’s services would be affected. Sen. Alan DeBoer, R-Ashland, will discuss his reasons for supporting Measure 101. Participants will be invited to ask questions.
Measure 101, on the Jan. 23 ballot, would preserve a tax on some health insurance plans and managed care organizations and an expanded hospital tax that the Legislature approved in the 2017 session to provide more funding for the Oregon Health Plan.
