Butte Falls student arrested after threats

A Butte Falls teen was arrested after allegedly threatening staff at Butte Falls Charter School late Wednesday morning, a release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s office said.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report from school officials of an “out of control” male student at 11:46 a.m. The 13-year-old, armed with bricks and other tools, made threats that resulted in a lockdown at the school, the release said.

The student’s parents arrived shortly after a 911 call was made and helped bring the student back under control, the release said. He was taken into custody without incident when deputies arrived. He was lodged in the Jackson County Juvenile Detention facility on counts of menacing and second-degree disorderly conduct, according to the release.

Dispatch received a secondary report from inside the school while the incident was going on; from a student who reported hearing gunshots. No gun shots were fired, the release said.
