Volunteers for Grange Co-op’s GrangeGives, Jacob Fry Construction and G&B Organics have built six garden boxes for Kids Unlimited prekindergarten students.

The volunteers began constructing the raised beds in early spring to prepare for planting season. The boxes have been filled with organic soil and fertilizer from G&B Organics, along with a variety of blueberry plants. A drip system was also installed.

“It’s important for our youth to know where their food comes from and how it’s grown; this garden is a perfect way for these kids to learn at an early age,” said Demetria Marical, the youth and community outreach coordinator for Grange Co-op. “The food they grow will be used in their kitchen for everyone to eat. It’s a perfect opportunity to learn the complete cycle of a garden, start to finish.”
