Rogue Community College’s 50th graduation commencement will host a drive-thru commencement ceremony for the college’s Redwood Campus Saturday, June 19.

Dubbed a “carmencement,” students who earned either a degree or certificate in 2021, or those who graduated in 2020 during a virtual commencement, are invited to join in. Participants will drive through the Redwood Campus, where staff and faculty will cheer them on “parade-style,” according to a news release. Graduates will also be able to stop and walk across the commencement stage.

Attendees are limited to one car per graduate, which event officials encourage them to decorate.

The college will release a highlights video at a later date, which will include recorded remarks from RCC President Cathy Kemper-Pelle, RCC board of education member Shawn Hogan, faculty representative Tracy Redd, and three student speakers.

The class of 2021 features 512 graduates who earned 437 degrees and 193 certificates.
